One of the products of a composer's workshop. The form is [A] 8 bars [B] 4 bars [C] 2 bar vamp interlude, the blowing is over the [A] with [B] on cue to the [C] vamp and back to the top for the next soloist. The drum solo is over the vamp at [C]. The chords were assigned by the workshop presenter for homework and they reminded me of a favourite song by Herbie Hancock, Maiden Voyage, hence the title.
