I usually just play regular solo piano and sing on gigs, but I’ve started to try and learn playing split piano/bass, where you have a bass sound in the lower part of the piano while playing regular piano notes in the upper part of the keyboard at the same time. Using a split piano/bass preset you can sound like a bass player is playing with you. It’s really a different way of thinking and playing. I’m using the classic old Cole Porter song here to practice on, called Night and Day. Playing along with a soft bossa nova beat from the iReal pro app. Using a split piano/bass preset from pianoteq. Everything below E3 is a bass sound, notes above are piano. So this is just a 2 instrument track, piano and a drums, although it sounds like a trio because of the split piano/bass sound.
