The opening movement (of three) for a chamber music quintet. It's a little punchier than the second movement posted. It sort of features the musical concept of 'klangfarbenbmelodie' (tone colour melody), in that the solo woodwinds trade lines so rapidly that timbre (tone colour) becomes a 'melodic element'. To my ear, it sorts of sounds like 'aural popcorn'. It was a concept developed by Arnold Schoenberg, although this music is decidedly tonal.
Instrumentation: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Harp
