"La Notte della Taranta" is the largest festival in Italy and one of the most significant events on popular culture in Europe. It takes place in Salento and is specifically dedicated to the rediscovery and valorization of traditional Salento music and its fusion with other musical languages, from world music to rock, from jazz to symphonic music.
Stewart Copeland, the very famous American drummer of the Police arrives in Melpignano and immediately accepts with great enthusiasm the invitation to direct the ensemble of La Notte della Taranta, which takes its name from the tarantula...in fact the dancers of this music seem to have been bitten by a tarantula.
