Attempting to reconnect
Cruising downtown we were looking around to meet pretty girls on the main street We asked if they needed a ride they said no not tonight but that’s ok our friendship could not be beat We headed to the nearest bar, we did not care if they played country or rock and roll music Drinking and dancing all night the mood was always right we’d get drunk just about every week Simplicity… is how it used to be… Today the tax man is after me Killing time with Paul, hanging at the pool hall throwing quarters in the pinball machine Playing winner moves on, partnering with John because because we’d wipe the opponent clean Inviting friends to my place, everyone lived at a snail’s pace drinking homemade wine It didn’t matter how late the parties were always great everyone assured of a good time Simplicity, is how it used to be... today I’m paying alimony. Sundays at the beach, no Karens out to preach, everyone brought beer to the BBQ Playing beach volley ball, boating was fun for all, there was always something fun to do Weekends on the Bay or travelling to the U.S.A. to watch a rock concert at the farm Lighters flickering in the air, we did not have a care everybody danced arm in arm Simplicity… is how i want it to be… Instead I’m going through bankruptcy Simplicity… is how i want it to be… Now there’s nobody I want to see Simplicity… is how i want it to be… now the kids don’t remember me Simplicity…. Simplicity.
