You can’t shoot at the stars, 
and hope they will scatter.

You can’t shout at the clouds 
and pray they will disperse. 

You can’t stomp on the ground 
and pretend the rumbling doesn’t matter. 

You can’t swear at the snow 
and hope it moves in reverse.


You can’t stare at the sun 
and hope that it will set. 

You can’t swat at the rain, 
and pray it goes somewhere new.

Or watch the funnel clouds
and hope they will turn, and yet,

You think you can stop the floods
no matter what you do.



Despite our frivolous fights, 
our endless plights,

we forget that we are not in charge.

We say, why won’t the weather cooperate?

Nature, with all its might 
points its finger at us,
laughs, and waits,

Because nature always wins.
