Song information
This is a song that came out of an unexpected experience of a dear long lost friend that showed up in 2005 on our doorstep after 20 years of no contact. We spent the day strolling around Santa Barbara catching up on our lives and finishing off at our place in nostalgic conversations over margaritas.

Many thanks to Rich Schletty for adding his wonderful vocals that completed this song.

Lyrics
Phone call early Sunday morning
Memories flooding back
You almost didn't even show up
Now tell me what was that?

It's so good to see you my old friend
So good to hear you laugh
Ah, what was it we shared back then?
We're still sharing it today.

Chorus:
Old friends and margaritas
Strolling through the years
The memories have faded
But you remain so dear
Old friends and margaritas...

Interlude
Chorus

Last round, the sun is setting
How did it come to pass?
Can't believe you still remember
Time slipped away s fast

Touch of grey yet eyes still sparkle
But now the day is done
Ah, what was it that we had back then?
Good to find it here again...

Chorus

At first, I had no recollection of having added my voice to this song when Jack asked me, the other day, if I had a copy of the lyrics for "Old Friends". When I looked it up on the Wayback Machine – October of 2005 – I saw that the full title was "Old Friends and Margaritas". Suddenly the margaritas toggled my memory. Alas, I couldn't find my GarageBand project for this song in my old Mac backups (thanks to a hard drive crash c. 2006). Jack reconstructed the lyrics and the song lives again! Thanks, Jack, for the memory. In 2005 we were "New Friends".
