Song information
Years ago, I would sometime visit the Cloisters - a museum that was built from dismantled French monasteries and moved to upper Manhattan in the 1930's. Sometimes with a friend, sometimes alone, I walked through its beautiful gardens and haunted halls. And when I think about it now, I hear music. It may not be historically accurate but it takes me back to another time and place. I hope you enjoy it.

I enjoyed listening to this choral piece. Oh to score it, rehearse it with a choir and record in some reverberant domed space! It reminds me a bit of Carmina Burana without the bass drum . . .

Pshaw, it doesn't have to be 'historically accurate' to have impact. (Igor Stravinsky wrote a series of Jazz inspired pieces in the 1920s. They sound nothing like Jazz. When asked about this, he stated that at the time, he'd never, in fact, actually heard Jazz music played at all. He just saw the music visually. The performance of Jazz music is decidely different from its musical representation the page; but the music still has impact. Ragtime for Eleven Instruments (1918) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hMNkIKPIc4) I liked this quite a bit - you've managed to emulate the mood, which is not easy to achieve!

@soulima Good point. I’m not a music historian. Of course they’re important but I make music. If it brings things to mind and moves you then I’m happy. Thanks John.

Beautiful work ... French monasteries (in France, and not dismantled too) are indeed very inspiring, beyond being religious or not. Peaceful and quiet.
