Song information
I had the music for this for many years, a sort of blues shuffle, that was a rewrite or tribute to Steve Miller's "The Stake," (which, in turn, I think was heavily influenced by Rocky Mountain Way). I had a hard time coming up with lyrics that fit, and ended up writing about a couple of past road trips or adventures as I couldn't think of anything else that would work. The first verse was about a jaunt from Seattle to San Francisco done years ago, where I made it on the first night to Redding, the first big town in Northern Cal. The second was about my brief time as a temp driving my car all over the state with the company's laptop and other high tech stuff measuring cell reception. It was at all hours of day or night, in desert, mountain region, forest, you name it.

This a really good song. I like the slow swinging rock vibe. Cool layered vocal lines.
