Song information
All My Shields Were Down is a love song to my sweet wife Diane. How I lost my heart a cold December in 1996 in Montréal.

I wrote this song in October 2011 where I had just started learning how to play music. This new version uses the original recording of my voice, but all instruments have been upgraded here in 2024 and I also added some background voices as well (Synth V)

A very well orchestrated song in all aspects, pop with a little touch of country. Like the percussion passage before the solo. A small advice : elec guitar sounds better with some pitch bend and modulation :-)

@thsantac Thanks for the kind feedback. Yes I also felt the guitar solo sounded artificial. I just played with adding some vibrato to it and that is much better. But not enough to post the song again. I really appreciate the constructive feedback. It matters and one learns.

@thsantac I really appreciate constructive feedback. Here is some feedback of the feedback. I went to the project and checked the instrument used. In this song the solo guitar is Ample Guitar LP (Les Paul) with a preset called Walk This Way. And if I add modulation wheel to it I get a nice not too crazy vibrato. I applied it to all the long notes. It is much much better this way. I am not uploading a new version here just for that change, but you and anyone reading this note can listen to the improved version on my website https://www.lavrsen.dk/foswiki/bin/view/Music/AllMyShieldsWereDown2024 .  I also purchased a great deesser tool from apulSoft called splitS. Not a traditional deesser but a tool that separates the ssss sounds and the tonal sound and let you mix it so you get a better balance. That is also applied to my vocal.
