This is one of those a night time piano improv recordings which I made last year on my iPad. I was testing out a new piano sound for my iPad and decided to take a small musical idea and explore and wander around improving chords. No plan, just trying to unwind musically, using a little 7 note melody, which comes and goes.
This solo piano sound is actually two ipad pianos combined to make a fuller piano sound. It’s using the free sampled “Accurate-Salamander” piano sfz soundfont, which is the main sound, and a “pianoteq Bosendorfer VC felt I” piano which I put in mono on lower volume, subtle underneath the salamander piano. The pianoteq felt piano underneath gave the salamander piano a solid full body sound. Recorded live using MidiTapeRecorder app.
I just love that sound of the piano, I've never been gifted with learning to play but something I've always wished I had ... This is a stunning piece of work and played with perfection 👏👏
It's clear that you put in quite a bit of mileage on those keys... I have a Yamaha baby grand in my studio, but I still end up using the apple piano in logic...(it sound beautiful but I never figured out a mic scheme that works) this composition is heartfelt... sitting at my piano bench is so therapeutic... great job... I recently tried taking my piano track and copying it 3 times.. then putting the bottom register in the middle the high register on the left and the mid far right... and I erased the consequent notes from each copied track, trying to create a more stereo Image... I eq'd each strand a little differently... it worked pretty well
Very interesting 3 piano trick @ScottCarmichael . I think acoustic piano is one of the hardest instruments to properly record. I have a real piano too but not the mics to record it right. However I just got a zoom h5 for only $79! Gonna try recording piano with that. You’re right, playing piano is therapeutic. Thanks for listening to my track!
