Song information
Mike (Wyndsok) asked me to collab with him on this song in 2006. Well, life being all too busy, it wasn't until several weeks (months ?) later that I gave it some real time. As Mike stated on his song page, things didn't work out for an official collab. Yet, I very much consider this version of "Poor Wayfaring Stranger" to be a collaboration with him. He came up with the chordal arrangement for this song. Due to some things that didn't jive for me on his original demo, I eventually laid down my own acoustic rhythm track. Well, as Craig Bakay (snowdragon) would tell you, you never know the direction this lad is bound to take off in since I am not sure half the time myself. Suffice to say, there are two versions of this soulful song.

The lyrics on this version vary somewhat from Mike's version, as there have been a number of renditions of this song over the years. I hope you enjoy it.

Mike, thanks for inviting me in on this. Singing these words really grabbed my heart and soul, more than you know.

Lyrics
I am a poor wayfaring stranger
Travelling through this world of woe
There's no sickness, no toil nor danger
In that bright land to which I go

Chorus:
Yes I'm going over Jordan
Just going, no more to roam
Only going over Jordan
Just going to my home

I know dark clouds will gather round me
I know my way is rough and steep
But golden fields lie out before me
Where all the saints their vigils keep

Chorus:
I'm going there to meet my father
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm just going over the river Jordan
I'm going over to my home

I want to wear a crown of glory
When I get home to that bright land
I want to shout Salvation's story
In concert with that blood-washed band

Chorus:
I'm going home to meet my mother
I'm going there no more to roam
I'm just going over the river Jordan
I'm going over, I'm going home

I'll soon be free from earthly trials
This body rests in the orchard's yard
I'll drop this cross of self-denial
And go singing home to my God

Chorus:
I'm going there to see my Saviour
To sing His praise for evermore
I'm just-a going over Jordan
I'm going over to my home

I'm a just a wayfaring stranger
Travelling through this world of woe
There's no sickness, no toil no danger
In that bright land to which I go

As I said in my liner notes I thought my version was inspired by yours!
I guess after all these years there are a few holes in my memory.
I always loved your version and am so glad to now have a download!
Your voice is in fine form herein and I really like your extended guitar soloing at the end.
Thanks for posting!

Matt... I'm not singing this, Jack is. Indeed, he ended up singing and playing everything. Only thing I contributed
was the basic arrangement. Credit where credit is due! Jack did a fabulous job on this version!
