The penultimate song from my 2024 RPM Challenge EP - Polaroid.

Okay, who among us who were around in the 70s/early 80s didn't have a Polaroid camera (even if it wasn't actually a Polaroid, you still called it that.) Compared to today when digital photos are measured in megapixels, the Polaroid quality is pretty poor. Even back then you knew it wasn't great, but it wasn't about the quality. It was about the immediacy of being able to capture a particular moment and not have to wait a week for your roll of film to come back from the processor. Today, we don't think much of the idea of instant photo memories, but back then, it was a big deal. And, of course, we all remember the "Polaroid wave" in which we were absolutely positive waving the newly-emerged print back and forth would make it develop faster.

This is a more moody and droning tune than the previous ones from the EP. It kind of sets the mood of looking back wistfully on a Summer fling when all you have left is the one snapshot and the memories.
