Song information
This is a song about gnawing regret.

We’ve all made our fair share of bad mistakes. (Even me... GASP!)

If we don’t find a way to learn from them, and then let go of them and move on, we could end up like this poor soul!

Be well friends!

Lyrics
SCAR TISSUE

I
Old photographs in a drawer.
Broken pieces of a troubled past.
Images shake me to the core.
Don’t want to see them anymore.
Don’t want to see them anymore…

Chorus:
I walk the road and I’ll pay the toll.
Self-sabotaging, I am my own foe!
Face in the mirror, I don’t want to know.
Nothing to show, but scar tissue…

II
Memories of times gone by,
cling like leeches to my mind’s eye.
Like to deny them, but cannot lie
to myself.

Chorus:
I walk the road and I’ll pay the toll.
Self-sabotaging, I am my own foe!
Face in the mirror, I don’t want to know.
Nothing to show, but scar tissue…

III
Those things I regret the most;
haunting me like Old Marley’s ghost.
Constant howling in my brain!

Chorus:
I walk the road and I’ll pay the toll.
Self-sabotaging, I am my own foe!
Face in the mirror, I don’t want to know.
Nothing to show, but scar tissue…

IV
Old photographs in a drawer.
Broken pieces of a troubled past.

Don’t want to see them anymore…

Whoa !! Pretty intense song. After beating yourself up regretting "old" things you can't undo, I hope there is still enough "new" left in you to keep on writing music. Loved the guitar work at the bridge. Dust off the cobwebs and move on Mike.

Some things you get over. Some things you carry with you to your final breath. Those you learn to live with.
In truth, very little of this song applies to me, but I think at least a little of it applies to anyone with a conscience.
I figure it as a good subject for a song since such things are quasi-universal.
Glad you enjoyed it bro!

What I love in all your song is that we never know what will happen in the middle :-) Always (often?) a very nice instrumental bridge. Another great one Mike.

Thanks Thierry!
You know, my favorite bands when I was a teen usually went off to a different place in the middle of their songs before returning to the main theme. It's in my blood I guess. Keeps me from getting bored! Lol...

Thanks friend. The music fits the lyrics because they were evoked by the music. Often happens that way with me.

WOW !! .... Now this is how you make music , you can certainly make a guitar sing , amazing percussion and vocals ( that filter is awesome )

@Sprout
Hey thanks a lot Dave. That "filter" you spoke of (presumably during the vocal choruses) is a combination of "Glimmering Chorus" setting, with a "Vintage Dimension" Ensemble setting. Glad you liked the effect! Just me screwing around till I find a sound that seems to work... Lol!

Had to check in since I haven't done much music myself lately. This would honestly make a great song to hear live. I kept getting that feeling over and over as I listened. So classic sounding.

Hey Sammy, nice to see you onsite bro. Been awhile. Life keeps us jumpin' and runnin' doesn't it?
I never thought about this as a "live" tune. Now that you've pointed that out I actually hear it differently!
Cool...
I played live in an acoustic group for a couple years in the early mid-70s. Never have played rock music live. Too old now. Lol...
Anyway, thanks for listening and commenting. Rock on friend!
