Song information
I’ve been away in Sydney opening a new telescope shop for work, and training new staff and not having my gear to unwind with after hours really threw me.
Anyway, I finally finished a track I started late last year — one I abandoned, restarted, and kept coming back to until it felt right.
This song dives into the waves of anxiety that sometimes hit me hard and drag me into a deep depression.
Music is the one thing that helps me climb out of that hole when I slip back in.
I hope you enjoy this one.

Lyrics
PAPER IN THE WIND
by Gerald G ©Copyright 2025

Verse 1

The weight comes down like a whispered threat,

A flicker in the corner I can’t forget.

Every thought turns sharp again,

And I’m breathing through the break I know is coming.

Chorus
Shadows on my skin, pulling from within,

I’m drowning in the noise that never ends.

When the world crashes in, I’m paper in the wind,

Tearing at the seams I try to mend.

Verse 2

A memory hits like a cold steel blade,

Cutting through the calm that I almost made.

Faces blur and echoes rise,

And my pulse turns into something mechanical.

Chorus
Shadows on my skin, pulling from within,

I’m drowning in the noise that never ends.

When the world crashes in, I’m paper in the wind,

Tearing at the seams I try to mend.

Instrumental

Bridge
Tell me I’m not broken

Tell me this will pass.

I’m reaching for the silence

But I only touch the glass.
Tell me there’s a moment

Where the panic lets me breathe,

Where the darkness isn’t stronger

Than the things I still believe.

Chorus
Shadows on my skin, pulling from within,

I’m drowning in the noise that never ends.

When the world crashes in, I’m paper in the wind,

Tearing at the seams I try to mend.

Second best song about depression I've ever heard Gerald! (Best one is Jimi Hendrix's "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp"...)
Although I'm a pretty happy guy these days I went through many periods like this years back, so I can identify with your insightful and authentic lyrics.
Music is SUPERB as always...
Bravissimo!
