Where Music Meets the Cosmos
Hailing from the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia, I'm Gerald - known to some of you as Garni. My life is a blend of earthly rhythms and celestial wonders, where the pulsating beats of new wave synths harmonise with the silent symphony of the stars.
Musical Journey
I play keyboards, drums, and occasionally strum a guitar. This versatility has been the cornerstone of my musical adventures, leading me to be part of several synth-based Melbourne bands:
- LegRoom
- AquaFuz
- Violator (a Depeche Mode tribute band)
My musical influences come from sounds of the '80s new wave era. The synthesizer wizardry of Depeche Mode, the avant-garde artistry of Gary Numan, and the emotive power of Kate Bush have all left marks on my style. Other influential artists in my musical journey include:
- Ultravox
- Human League
- Yazoo
- Duran Duran
- David Bowie
- Peter Gabriel
- Björk
Stargazer and Scientist
When Im not doing music, I turn my gaze skyward. My observatory becomes a portal to the cosmos, where I spend a significant portion of my life - both as a passionate hobby and a professional pursuit.
As an astronomer, I'm on a quest to uncover the secrets of the universe. My specialty lies in the search for supernova remnants, those stellar explosions paint the night sky with their ethereal beauty.
This dual passion for music and astronomy defines me, creating a unique harmony between the rhythms of Earth and the silent songs of the stars. Whether I'm composing a new melody or tracking a distant supernova, I'm always exploring the profound connections between sound, light and the human experience.
