Where Music Meets the Cosmos
Hailing from the vibrant city of Melbourne, Australia, I'm Gerald - known to some of you as Garni. My life is a blend of Music and Astronomy, where the pulsating beats of new wave synths harmonise with the silence of the stars.
My Musical Journey
I play keyboards, drums, and sometimes pick up the guitar. That mix has shaped much of my musical path and led me to play in several synth-based bands around Melbourne, including:
- LegRoom
- AquaFuz
- Violator (a Depeche Mode tribute act)
My style draws heavily from the new wave sounds of the '80s. I’ve always been inspired by the synth-driven intensity of Depeche Mode, the experimental edge of Gary Numan, and the emotional depth of Kate Bush. Other artists who’ve helped shape my musical voice include:
- Ultravox
- The Human League
- Yazoo
- Duran Duran
- David Bowie
- Peter Gabriel
- Björk
Stargazer and Scientist
When I'm not making music, you'll usually find me looking up at the night sky. My observatory isn’t just a workspace — it’s a window into the universe where I spend countless hours, both as a passionate amateur and in a professional capacity.
Astronomy is more than a hobby for me; it’s a lifelong pursuit. I’m particularly drawn to studying supernova remnants — those beautiful echoes of massive stellar explosions.
Whether I’m writing a melody or capturing the light from a dying star, I’m always chasing the same thing: the deep connection between sound, light, and the wonder of being alive.
