Song information
I started recording music in back in 2004, working in Garage Band. In those days I mainly worked with loops and a keyboard. This went on till 2006.
It was a good learning experience.

In 2006 I began working with real instruments, and writing and singing songs.

RUN SALLY RUN is one of my earliest efforts. It's a song about a young girl struggling with coming of age in a sex-obsessed society.

Lyrics are a tad cheesy in a couple places, but I was still new at songwriting.

Anyway, the original file stems for this tune have long since perished. I tried to clean it up with some remastering for this post.

Thanks for listening friends!

Lyrics
RUN SALLY RUN

Intro:
Sally was born with silken red hair and big green eyes;
---skin as fair as the white clouds floating on clear bright summer skies.
Before she reached her flower Sally began to be aware,
of a change in the weather (an encroaching darkness)
in her life's atmosphere.

Now Sally must deal daily with the lies of false friends;
---the stares and glares of young bucks and the sweaty old men.
Will she stand her ground?
Or will she just give in?

I
She's three times a lady...
a sweet child in time!
They'll be no private dancing here boy,
---not on this girl's dime!
No no!

II
Run Sally run,
get your self outta there!
Fly like a bird,
straight to the arms
 of the One Who really cares...
Yeah!

III
You know the girl's got plans,
---things she's just gotta do.
Well she'll not be waylaid,
by the likes of you!
No no!

IV
Well it's hard sometimes...
and Sally, she cries;
but soon she will fly!
Yeah...

V
Now Sally she's a good girl.
She's lookin' for a real good man;
to share a life of faith and love.
She's taken a stand,
for a much higher plan!
Yeah yeah!

Outro:
Have faith sweet Sally,
and dry those tears.
LOVE
is on the way.

Milke, the loop phase, looking back, are a great launching pad for the creative soul.  Your vocals in the beginning reminded me a bit of Ian Anderson.  Oddly enough, and I guess it's up to individual interpretation, I can relate to Sally during my naive youth.. Perfectly mixed, especially the instrumental bridge and nice to hearyour spoken with sincerity voice at the end.. Bless Sally.. Another one of your best

Great song Mike. I never hear a bad one from you.  Lots of temp changes which I love.  I have a couple old ones about those sweet dancing girls.  One day I'll work on them.

Despite the sound, this is another great song from you. You always surprise us with your creativity. I do use loops sometimes in my pieces, even now, they give me inspiration.

Some good and creative writing here. And great guitar playing!  Pretty incredible work for your first non-loop original music. Wow...

Powerful song, love the "dry" treatment of the guitars, great songwriting as always... And if you get bored about the "Bowie" reference for your vocal tones, i'll go more "obscure" : Bruce Joyner !

A clarification... This was one of the first tines I recorded the year after I abandoned the use of loops. Only loops I used from 2006 onwards were drum loops. Since 2017 I even abandoned those, and since then compose my drum tracks in midi.
Always appreciate your comments Mo. Glad you enjoyed this early effort...

Hey thanks Charlie. Although some of my early tunes make me cringe a bit, because my mixing skills were almost non-existent at that point, I think this one turned out rather well. Anyway I'm rather nostalgic about most of my early stuff. I produced so much work that first year! My wife says I had been musically constipated and then suddenly everything started flowing! Lol...

Much appreciated Gerald. When I first began recording with real instruments in 2006 I wanted to do two things. 1) play solos, and 2) produce "epic" rockers. Looking back it's plain I was in over my head, but some nice work did come out of all that unrestrained enthusiasm.  Glad you enjoyed this song bro!

Great start. Common title. Maybe consider changing the title? I'm enjoying it. You have talent man! Lots of it!

Title wasn't so common back when I first recorded this. At least, I'd never heard it before.
Glad you enjoyed the song bro!
