Attempting to reconnect
Amsterdam 90 by Gerald G ©Copyright 2025 V1 Stepped off the train with a wide-eyed grin, Backpack light and the world to begin. The air smelled of rain and old perfume, Bicycles dancing down cobblestone rooms. V2 Found a café near the old canal, Jazz and house beats mixing somehow. And there she was, in a summer-red dress Eyes like fire, and a laugh I won’t forget. Chorus Oh, Amsterdam in the nineties, the music in the air, We danced beneath the city lights without a single care. Her touch was like a rhythm I never could ignore, That summer night still plays in me, forever wanting more. V3 We rode through parks with wind in our hair, Van Gogh skies and midnight stares. Shared stories over wine and stars, Two strangers close, yet worlds apart. Instrumental Bridge She said, “Don’t ask tomorrow,” with a bittersweet smile, We lived for each moment, just for a while. And though the morning stole her name, The memory stayed like a glowing flame. Chorus Oh, Amsterdam in the nineties, the music in the air, We danced beneath the city lights without a single care. Her touch was like a rhythm I never could ignore, That summer night still plays in me, forever wanting more. Outro Now every time I hear that beat, I see her dancing, wild and sweet. And somewhere in that city’s glow, A piece of me still longs to go.
