Song information
Macorina (María Calvo Nodarse) was a 'public figure' in La Habana - Cuba, a hundred years ago. Alfonso Camín, a Spanish poet, wrote this in 1931 and Chavela Vargas made a song from the poem in 1961. It's a classic 'double entendre', but also a beautiful song about love and desire. As you will instantly notice, Spanish is not my native language...although I have some latin roots (more on the Italian side...).So I hope the real Spanish speakers will forgive my mistakes... Piano and vocal tracks were recorded a few years ago and the rest has been added this year. I hope you'll enjoy this little Cuban tribute !

Lyrics
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Tus pies dejaban la estera
Y se escapaba tu saya
Buscando la verde raya
Que al ver tu talle tan fino
Las cañas azucareras
Se echaban por el camino
Para que tú las molieras
Como si fueses molino

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Tus senos carne de anón
Tu boca una bendición
De guanábana madura
Y era tu fina cintura
La misma de aquel danzón

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

Después el amanecer
Que de mis brazos te lleva
Y yo sin saber que hacer
De aquel olor a mujer
A mango y a caña nueva
Con que me llenaste al son
Caliente de aquel danzón

Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí
Ponme la mano aquí, Macorina
Ponme la mano aquí

@Dyl
So Spanish is not your first language... I applaud your courage and your artistry! I think this turned out very well. Could almost pass for a lost Los Lobos or Los Lonely Boys demo!
👍👌😋

Put your hand here, Macorina
Put your hand here
Your feet were leaving the mat
And your skirt was escaping
Looking for the green line
That, seeing your waist so fine
The sugar canes
Would lay themselves across the path
So that you would grind them
As if you were a mill
Nice work, amigo. Today I learned a thing.

Great track dyl.  Sung with true latin passion and the music is excellent as usual.  There are a few italian legends your voice would give justice to.  Celentano, Cocciante, Cutugno, Tozzi to name a few.

@TrebleFace Thank you very much. About italian singers ... The absolute ultimate 'not my language' exercise would be to cover Adriano Celentano 'Prisencolinensinainciusol' ... A classic !

Bravissimo! La tua anima latina mi fa tornare alla mia amata Cuba. I'm writing to you in my native language because I consider you a compatriot as @Trebleface. Thank you from me and my Cuban brothers!
