Song information
Lately, life’s been a whirlwind. Starting a new job left me with barely enough headspace to think straight, let alone write music. The ideas I had for this song? Straight in the bin. Nothing clicked. I hit one of those creative dead zones where everything I played just sounded wrong. Maybe I was pushing too hard, chasing something that wouldn’t come.

So, I let it go. I gave the song time to breathe.

Weeks later, I picked it up again, almost on a whim - and this time, it flowed. Finally. It started to feel right.

The song is about a girl I met back at uni (Louise). She wasn’t the centre of attention, but she had this quiet magnetism that drew me in. There was something mysterious about her, like she carried a secret she’d never tell. Maybe it was just the fire in her eyes, but I always felt like there was more to her than she let the world see.

We dated briefly - just a few weeks - but it always felt a little awkward, like I’d stumbled into a part of her life I wasn’t meant to see. There was a wall around her, and no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn’t break through it.

Years later, I saw her again. Just a fleeting moment. She was walking alone, and somehow she hadn’t changed a bit. That same quiet charisma, still wrapped in mystery. I didn’t approach her—I’m happily married now—but for a moment, I was transported straight back to those uni days, tangled in memories of who we were back then.

Lyrics
Verse 1

Louise walked in, the room stood still

Eyes like fire, a touch of chill

She moved like music, soft and slow

A dream I knew I'd never know

Chorus
Louise, you were too far to touch

But I felt you in my soul so much

You never knew, you couldn’t see

What it meant to dream of you and me

Verse 2
Louise would glance, then look away

Like she had secrets she couldn’t say

She had a way of stirring heat

And left me restless on my feet

Chorus

INSTRUMENTAL

Verse 3
The years moved on, we went our ways
But I still think of her some days
Not with sorrow, not with pain
Just wondering what might have been

Chorus

Verse 4
I saw her once, just last July
Still just as stunning passing by
She didn’t see the boy she knew
But I still saw the dream come true
