Song information
Nothing twangy about this one. A short, angry, noisy rant, penned after listening to a lot of the Stooges, Sebadoh, Sonic Youth, and a great garage-punk band from nearby Memphis called The Oblivians. I play all instruments, combined with a custom drum loop. I use a Gibson SG for the rhythm/riff. The lead is played on a Silvertone 1446 with original Bigsby vibrato tailpiece and with the original Lollar hot mini-bucker pickups through a Fuzz Factory fuzz pedal and a vintage Ampeg tube amp. No AI.

Lyrics
Possum Kingdom, TX

V1. I’m not a believer
So don’t try to make me
You determined deceiver
Determined to fake me
In this world of selfishness and greed
The Golden Rule is what I need

V2. While I hope for others to find a way
To do their best most every day
Treat others as they’d treat themselves
Treat others as I’d treat myself

Chorus. While I cast aside superstition and
Children’s stories of divine magicians
And look inside myself
And find the good in someone else

Cast aside superstition and
Bedtime stories of divine magicians
Look inside myself
Find the best in someone else

V3. There’s a rally in Possum Kingdom at ten
For a leader who treats a stranger as friend
Not a leader who seeks blind devotion
From a rabble chanting racist slogans

V4. Cancel it though, she’s down in the polls
We’ll cast our fate with another troll
And people who get so easily bored
Think they’re owed a life they can’t afford

Ch. But I’ll toss aside superstition and
Children’s stories of divine magicians
Look inside myself
And find the good in someone else

I cast aside superstition and
Bedtime stories of divine magicians
Look inside myself
And find the best in someone else

I absolutely love the super-sharp edges of this song, and the final solo was a perfect touch ... Alan Vega comes to mind... ain't a bad thing, no ?
