LOOKING BACK by Gerald G ©Copyright 2026 Verse 1 Once I was happy, I never knew why, I thought I had forever beneath an open sky. Then money and mistakes pulled everything apart, And love slowly disappeared from a tired, broken heart. Chorus Looking back, I don’t know where I went wrong, I spent my whole life trying just to belong. The years kept moving while I lost my way, And now there’s less tomorrow with every passing day. Verse 2 I walked from jobs and started over again, Running from failure, but meeting it in the end. Then sickness took me somewhere close to gone, Three months in darkness while the world carried on. Chorus Looking back, I don’t know where I went wrong, I spent my whole life trying just to belong. The years kept moving while I lost my way, And now there’s less tomorrow with every passing day. Instrumental Verse 3 Now I work just to keep the wolves outside, Too old for some dreams, with nowhere left to hide. I can’t undo the choices or reclaim the years, Life taught me slowly through regret and tears. Chorus Looking back, I don’t know where I went wrong, I kept on fighting, but the fight went on too long. Some dreams just vanish and some wounds remain, Life isn’t easy - sometimes you just live with the pain.
