DANCING ON A TREADMILL I My life’s been spent dancing on a treadmill; chasing my own tail from dawn until dusk. Tryin’ to navigate this never ending madness. Tryin’ to survive, tryin’ not to go bust. Some days it really seems that I might lose my balance, —go flyin’ off way into the dust! It’s all that I can do to keep me-self standing. I need a friend; someone I can trust. Refrain: Well I’m dancing on a treadmill! Hey… but I’m dancing just the same! II Looking back, it’s never been different; from our childhood, to this very day. It’s always been a fight of epic proportions; but we keep pushing on anyway. One day along the way a Great Light surprised me; pointed me forward…energized my steps! Now though I find that I still must walk the tightrope, —no longer doin’ it without a Net! Refrain: Well I’m dancing on a treadmill! Hey… but I’m dancing just the same! Transition: Although it sounds too good to be true, —like it never could be. Nobody has to go it alone. There is Help, and it’s free! III Livin’ every moment in the present tense, —no better place one can be. I know the future will take care of itself. It holds no terrors for me. Whatever comes to pass; whatever will be… It’s all the same to me. I will walk it with the One I trust. He is my destiny! Refrain: I’m dancing on a treadmill! Hey… well I’m dancing just the same!
