Song information
During the mid 80s to the early 90s I play in the Eastside of Los Angeles County with the Band Mixed Company (Formerly Main Street). Wow what a great time we all had! I often recorded the band with my Tascam 244 connected to the P.A. and a couple mics and several recordings have survived. With new technology like stem separation I was able to to break down the song into seven tracks allowing better restoration of the audio. A audience favorite was "Why Get Up" by "The Fabulous Thunderbirds". This song was recorded at the "Sleepy Hollow" club on Whittier Boulevard. The vocal track starts going out of tune (-12 Simi Tones, could have used Melodyne) for a short time by the rest if it is fine. Sit back and let us take you back to 1987.
Enjoy!
Mixed Company:
Vera Dias - Vocals
George Garcia - Guitar, Vocals
Davy Garcia - Keyboard, Vocals
Carlos Dias - Drums
Ed Mora - Lead Guitar (RIP Bro)

Lyrics
Why get up, why get up
How can I get up, why should I get up
This whole world's gone crazy
Think I've seen enough
I'm gonna sleep forever why get up
Phone keeps ringing right off the hook
Some bill collector, I know what cooks
Think I'll stay in bed, dream all day
World outside bugs me anyway
When I get things going, the going gets rough
So I ask myself why get up
Chorus
Went to the doctor, he said lose some weight
If you don't do it quick, we'll have to operate
I talked to my lawyer, he said case is closed
That woman got it all even the garden hose
Staring at the ceiling thinking just my luck
Better roll back over why get up
Chorus
Well I can't quit drinking, I'm nervous all the time
When I wake up, it's like a ton lead on my mind
What was it, I said to that girl last night
She really got upset, I best stay out of sight
I remember a gun and calling somebody's bluff
I better duck under the cover why get up
Chorus
Chorus

@Dr_J Geart technology for its day.
There was enough fidelity left in the tape to create a good sound.

@KennethLavrsen The four track cassette was good enough to restore the recording beyond its original quality. Thanks Man.

@sammydix I have a video of the audience dancing to the song, pretty wild. Wish the quality was better. It was from George's Sony Beta Max camera. Yeah I'm that old!

I remember when The Fabulous Thunderbirds did this song.  That was a killer album from them. I also dig the rendition here, done really well and sounds pretty cool.  I still have a Tascam machine myself. I lived in LA myself during that time period. Shame that I never got to see you guys play myself.

@Venturesome  It was a popular song in the Valleys! We did play in the South Bay Area too. This was recorded at Portifinos Restaurant, and within the Restaurant was the club Sleepy Hollow. It was in Whittier, on Whittier Boulevard right where Beach Boulevard (Hwy 39) starts. Glad you like it!
