Biography » Outsound
Having formed in 2018 in Cork City, Ireland after meeting each other in college, the members of Outsound instantly began working on material leading to the band’s debut singles, ‘Red Lights’ and ‘Missing Out’ which were both independently released in 2020. The early years of Outsound conveyed a band that was deep in the process of discovering their musical identity as they leapt from the realms of Pop Rock to Blues and from Grunge to feel-good Country. As time progressed, so too did their sound. Maybe the Metal tendencies of the rhythm section started seeping through from Aaron and Luke, or perhaps guitarists, Steve and Alan had been secretly preparing a new wave of riffs and the experimentation continued. This new, more refined sound provided a fresh wave of progressive riffs, grounded in Hard Rock, carrying forth melodic vocals through atmospheric bends, searing leads, and bouncing breakdowns. After releasing another stream of singles in 2021, Outsound began writing for their debut album. In 2022 they entered Ivy Hill Studios with Fintan McKahey, and the magic flowed from there. They released their debut LP “Megatherium” in June 2023 to widespread acclaim. The album tears strips from Blues, Grunge, Heavy Metal, and even sprinkles in some Beach Boys flavoured harmonies for good measure. Riding the wave of their 2023 release, the band are currently in preparations to hit the studio in 2024 to record a follow-up album.
