Well, another collaboration platform is closing in October this year, called 'Drooble', and all because of this (c)rap, hiphop, trap, grunge, and the noise that's so called music, is now wiping out real musicians that want to collaborate with other real musicians, these so called noise makers all they have to do is grab a few samples, loop, cut and paste, etc etc, using a sampler, and a DAW specifically designed for beat making, and then they call themselves musicians,, they don't need online collaborations they do ALL themselves.
So, eventually there will be nowhere on the internet that real musicians will be able to collaborate with each other, as those sites will be extinct thanks to the damn noise makers.
Although growth has been slow, this site is still pretty young. Personally, I don't see it closing down anytime soon, and there are quite a few folk here who actually play real instruments and enjoy working together from time to time.
I really enjoy the challenge of doing everything myself most of the time, but I also like having other talented people playing on my tracks. Recently got invited to play lead guitar on someone else's upcoming tune. It was great fun (and I don't even consider myself a lead guitarist!), and I hope to do it again sometime. However, I wouldn't want to do it all the time. My normal preference is to play all the instruments myself and then do the mixing. I learn and grow more that way. It's the "hands on" thing.
I get what you're saying though about the loop/sample style of doing music. Recently one of my grandchildren complained about there being "too much guitar" in my music! All many of the young want to hear are beats and auto-tuned and distorted vocals. They've been somewhat conditioned by the industry.
While I think that stuff has its place, it can be frustrating when it dominates to the extent that folk who play real instruments are no longer heard.
Hey man, I'm glad you saw fit to return here. Perhaps we'll collab one day WHEN I CAN MAKE THE TIME! These days I barely have time to do my own stuff. It's one of the reasons I've been bringing other folk onto my tunes. It's not the only reason for sure, but it is certainly ONE of them. Lol...
I get the frustration. I learned from iCompositions that musicians are irreplacable. I get it when kids find they can do something without collaboration. But with collaboration one can reach so much farther.
