Rain In The Summer © June 22, 2018, Stanley Loh. Adapted from Longfellow’s poem of the same name. Verse 1 How beautiful is the rain, Peppering the narrow lane, After the dust and weary heat, The smiles are free along the street. Verse 2 How it clatters on the roof, Like a tramp of hoofs, How it gushes and rushes out, The throat of a gutter spout. Chorus Dark clouds rumbling, children running, umbrellas do fly, Celebrating, lovers mating, windows hide the shy, Verse 3 Dashing cars electrify, Their crossings soon deny, The right of way for the high boot ma’am, Each splash will curse the laboured tramp. Repeat Chorus Verse 4 Refuge in the coffee stand, The croissant wasn’t planned, But the Wize Monkey coffee leaf tea, Was a pleasure for Mabel and me! Repeat Chorus
