On the Indian River in southern Delaware once stood Rosedale Hotel and dance hall. This unique black owned entertainment business featured most of the top RnB performers during the late 50's to the 60's. James Brown, Sam and Dave, and many others drew music lovers there. Rosedale advertised via radio and posters in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Washington DC. Their programs attracted busloads of young people who wanted a good time. But all good things come to an end. This is a still photograph of the local fire department controlled burn that finalized the history of Rosedale.
