A tune from 2010. It is called “Open” because all of the open chords used in the making: just a couple of notes to define each chord, giving it a sense of uncertainty, tension, to let voice or solos the chance to resolve that uncomfortability, and because I’ve never felt like a whole musician but just a decent storyteller who make blank canvas for talented guitar players or voices to finish it. And I was “between basses”: just sold my good old 90s headless Hohner Steinberger and going for some fretted one, but still experimenting, so i bought a Squier Jazz Bass Vintage Modified FRETLESS, a kind of bass I’ve never played in my life, it was sooo much rubbery, so much freedom in its playing… like poetry… so hippie!... I felt back at home when I bought a Squier Jazz Bass Vintage Modified with FRETS! Some boundaries make me feel good. I´m Macoco… getting old.
Yeah, definitely has a '70s prog vibe to it, but it's all you. Do you still have that fretless bass and if so, have you used it a lot? Because I feel you should.
