Cane Toad Blues Vocals and lyrics by Mary McGrath Copyright 6/25/24-All rights reserved I have a little story to tell you about where I live in the South. All kinds of crazy creatures down here, you know, they never cease to amaze me, their ways of doing things, and habits. Here's what happened the other night. I couldn't believe it. I hear a cane toad croaking Keeps me up all through the night Perhaps he's toking Smoking weed must seem so right Gets it down by the river His mood taking on a new height I never knew a frog Could get high on weeds and grass I thought he ate mosquitoes When at night they flew right past Guess nature has its ways To exert its might at last Will gators be the next ones To try this evening treat Getting high on the grasses Instead of eating fish and meat So many types of wonders In this land down by the creek
