A few weeks ago my cousin, who is an artist living in Memphis, asked that for her birthday people do something creative instead of giving presents. So, I did just that. Her work is primarily collages and found art and I love how creatively she seems to be able to use anything from broken toys to old post cards or magazine clippings to broken picture frames. So, right there, I had the title and idea for a song and I used her artwork as an inspiration.

It also happened that just a couple of weeks before, I'd gotten back from seeing Neil Young in concert and I was still pretty stoked. This was definitely an influence for the song.

This song is also a first for me. I've been saying for years I was going to learn how to play the harmonica, so once I had the idea for the song and started recording, I decided there was no time like the present. So this marks my first time to play harmonica on a recording. I still need work.

Nice nice song Joseph. Neil Young's subtle influence is surely there. Perhaps also a hint of America.
Very visual lyrics (as is fitting!) beautifully sung.
The harmonica is perfect for this song. Congrats!
