Song information
The Sunset Strip riots took place in 1966 they were triggered by curfews aimed at the young crowd that frequented clubs on the strip. One such club was “Pandora’s Box”. Los Angeles City Council had voted to acquire and demolish the venue and in November a rally was called to try and save it. The events that followed inspired the song by Stephen Stills and the lyrics continue to resonate to this day.
There have been many covers of this song and a version by Bonnie Bramlett inspired this collaboration.

Always a pleasure to work with you, Roger… I never paid attention to these lyrics until we collaborated on this. Poignant words for our troubled times.

I remember that time well. (Although the drug-induced moments remain a blur!)
I've always loved this song. It occasionally can be heard in rotation at my house on Yahtzee night...
Of course, I'm much more mature now than I was back then in 1966.
I now understand that there really ARE folks who need to be told to beware.
Someday perhaps someone will record an equally good tune about that sad reality.
BTW, Mary was a GREAT choice for a vocalist!
