A break from music and something different. I love telling stories. Did some as a filmmaker. Had films shown at festivals but I had many more to tell and needed to find a way to tell them and still have money left in the bank. Of course a great story told directly to us is often all we need. And that was the starting point of a show I conceived of, directed, mostly wrote and co-produced with my friend Richard Rivera called TALK FICTION. Here’s a new episode written by a fine writer and friend Max Aldahondo where a successful college basketball coach talks to a group of New York teenage boys about his youth spent in this neighborhood with a tough guy named Johnny. We were scheduled a shoot in a couple of days, when the actor who we selected left at the last minute for a paying gig. With no options left I stepped into the breach and for better or worse, did it myself. I'm from NYC so slidding into that speak, though it's not my normal, was fun. If anyone's interested in seeing the actual video, here's the link. https://youtu.be/s7SVRweToH8
@yoslounge I’m pretty good with accents, musicality has something to do with it and of course New York comes naturally, but if we were sitting together for lunch, you wouldn’t be hearing much of it. Thanks Omar.
Great story telling and video. Your accent sounds like some people I know in the Niagara area lol. Sad story about Jonnny. Sad because not only did he victimize a lot of people but he was also a victim.
@TrebleFace Surprised that a Niagara accent sounds similar. What you heard was New York City lower class that isn’t heard much anymore and isn’t my usual vernacular. It is a sad story that I’ve been told is mostly true. Thanks Matt.
