Song information
I remember some years back we had a new Foster Son KJ... and he came into the studio with me with pots and pans and all sorts of cutlery... and we were throwing it all over the place to get all crashing and smashing sounds... I'll never forget, he thought it was the greatest thing... like we were getting away with something... this song is certainly inspired by my wife... while she is SO very good at life, she's an absolute wizard in the Kitchen... Ska, but really that 90's bare naked ladies type...

Lyrics
It looks easy from the outside
Or watching from the dining room
Were we half baked? Are we refried?
Did we bite off more than we can chew?

Is it pudding? Is it Patte’?
We are guessing here we must confess
Does it simmer? Should we salute’ ?
Who is going to clean this mess?

If you are going to mix it up with me
May we try this proven recipe Yeah!

Love starts in the Kitchen
Be the gourmet of my life
Love starts in the Kitchen
Fix my breakfast be my wife

Love starts in the Kitchen
We don’t have to be so smart
Love starts in the Kitchen
Fill my stomach take my heart

Such exotic subtle flavor
Sausy spicy I am hooked
May I ask one final favor
Wake me when my goose is cooked

If you are going to mix it up with me
May we try this proven recipe

Love starts in the Kitchen
We don’t have to be so smart
Love starts in the Kitchen
Fill my stomach take my heart

Love starts in the Kitchen
Be the gourmet of my life
Love starts in the Kitchen
Fix my breakfast be my wife

Love starts in the Kitchen
Seven Courses A’ la cart
Love starts in the Kitchen
Fill my stomach take my heart

As soon as the song started, I thought of the band Madness. This sounds like something they could have done. Sounds like a top notch song.

I love this! First it is a well written melody with a nice chorus hook. Second the lyrics are simply brilliant. And it fits my situation pretty well. My wife is a brilliant cook which I appreciate a lot. And I am hopeless in a kitchen. I love the sounds of broken dishes

Catchy, uplifting vibe, Scott. Not an easy style to hold together, but you nailed it here. Liking the sentiment, too. Made me hungry just listening. Really good. Thanks.

Boys and girls, iBandstanders one an all, it seems like we've got a musical chef in the house with 'It Starts in the Kitchen'! These lyrics are cooking up a storm, and old Dick Clark is loving the culinary metaphors. Are we half baked? Are we refried? I don't know about you, but I'm getting hungry just listening to it. Mrs. Clark, turn on that oven! The playful confusion about pudding or paté, simmering or saluting—it's like a recipe for love with a dash of humor. And who's going to clean up the mess? Well, that's the real question, isn't it? But you know what really caught my ear? 'Love starts in the Kitchen, be the gourmet of my life.' Now, that's a line that's as sweet as dessert. The idea of love being a well-cooked meal, with someone special fixing your breakfast and taking your heart—it's a charming concept. So, if you're like me and are in the mood for a musical feast and a side of romance, 'It Starts in the Kitchen' might just be the recipe you're looking for. Mrs. Clark, take off that apron. Old Dick is picking up the pots and pans, cans and spoons! Just Dick
