Magic In My Garden

Song information
At the very end of our property, a little patch of mushrooms used to grow. My Father had a habit of wandering the land, getting rid of every weed or mushroom he found. One day, I saw him heading toward my precious patch and I yelled, “Stop! You’re killing the fairies in our garden!”

To my surprise, he listened. He smiled and said, “Alright, I’ll leave you a patch for your fairies to live in - but don’t touch them. They’re poisonous, and they could really hurt you.”

From then on, that little patch became my fairies’ home. Year after year, the mushrooms returned, and I imagined the fairies thriving and dancing among them.

This song is about those magical years when my imagination ran wild. I’m grateful for it, because it shaped the way I think and create today - whether it’s in my work, my crafts, or my music.

Lyrics
Verse 1
When I was a child, I’d sit by the trees,

Talking to friends that only I’d see.

They danced in the light, so gentle and free,

The fairies and creatures belonged just to me.

Chorus

There’s magic in my garden, where wild dreams grow,

Soft voices in the breeze, only I would know.

They whispered their stories, both old and new,

And promised the skies would stay painted blue.

Verse 2

Tiny wings shimmered in morning’s first ray,

Hidden in flowers, they’d laugh and they’d play.

I’d close my eyes, let the daylight fade in,

And open the gate to the world deep within.

Chorus

There’s magic in my garden, where wild dreams grow,

Soft voices in the breeze, only I would know.

They whispered their stories, both old and new,

And promised the skies would stay painted blue.

Instrumental

Verse 3

Now I’m grown up, but I still believe,

In gardens of wonder that I can’t quite leave.

For when the wind sings and the moonlight calls,

I see them again by the old stone, stoned walls.

Chorus

There’s magic in my garden, where wild dreams grow,

Soft voices in the breeze, only I would know.

They whispered their stories, both old and new,

And promised the skies would stay painted blue.

Is that a dobro i'm hearing ? So beautiful. You all got a sound that reminds me very much of a sublime album by T Bone Burnett in 1986. There was Jerry Douglas, Byron Berline, David Hidalgo, Jerry Scheff ... Only this time, It's Mo on vocals. Big plus. Bravo.
