Well what a surprize and I love it - full orchestral piece. Lovely sound and wonderful composition and terrific arrangement and attention to detail. Are you using EastWest plug ins? Thanks for posting this wonderful composition. Truly enjoyed. Man the brass really swells. Lovely.
It certainly has a regal feel to it. Effective chord changes. You've done a good job in capturing a quite specific, stoic feel that classical mid 20th century American music had (Copland, Bernstein, etc). He was a great president; here's to hoping that a sadly lost America can find its way again. A renewed leadership and vision like that of Abraham Lincoln had is needed these days.
@MikeHuntingford You have a fine ear. Yes I did use many EastWest plug ins on this. I appreciate the close listen and your very kind words Mike. Thanks my friend.
This evokes so effectively that feeling of Americana that you get when you think of Lincoln - amber waves of grain, purple mountains majesty, etc. Not being facecious. Totally sincere. Like others have said, almost immediately to me evokes Copland, which is no small feat. A very well-composed piece!
@jgurner Amber waves and purple mountains still get to me. In the 40s Copeland was commissioned to do a piece about Lincoln - but he wasn’t found of the man and at first refused, but finally agreed to. It’s is called Lincoln Portrait and used material from speeches and letters of Lincoln, as well as original folk songs of the period. It’s wonderful and I’m honored to have evoked his music. Thank you my friend.
My brother's name is Lincoln ... he says he doesn't like his name ... I don't have an opinion on my name! This is an inspiring piece. A movie theme song! I really like your work here!
