Just wanted to let any of you former MacJams members who aren't part of the MJ group on Facebook know about the passing of Jack Hemby, aka DavisAmerica.
Andy Wigzell, agwize, sent the following message out Friday night: Patrick (outtaorbit) called me today to let me know Jack Hemby (Davisamerica) passed away yesterday. He had brain cancer- he was staying in Austin with his son. We talked a few weeks ago and we said our goodbyes then. I'll get more details and send out another text when they are available.
I had the pleasure of making music with Jack both on collabs and in person on a trip out to Texas to meet up with a bunch of MacJammers a bit over a decade ago. He was a fantastic guy, friendly and welcoming and an amazing talent.
I am so very sorry to hear that. Jack was such a talented guy. I really miss the MacJam days, and will always remember the snowball effect that Jack caused with his song 'Emma'. I still have his original version - such a great song! RIP Jack.
Vic Holman emailed me a couple days ago re Jack's passing. Got to participate on a birthday collab for him once back in the day. He made lots of good music and was much loved. I will miss him!
