In the yeats between 1976 and 1992 I was a very highly paid session musician-guitar and cello. Did this make me better than anyone-no Did this make me me fortunate-yes believe in yourself your day may come-kudos if you create you do what god aspires to
If music or any of the arts can earn you a living consider yourself fortunate. Earning a fortune is rare indeed. Believing in yourself no matter how hard the headwinds blow is paramount. “Success” will not come to all, but joy and the pleasure of creation and sharing it with others can be more than enough.
Very difficult to support yourself with music as a career these days. I wouldn't recommend it. Back in the day, I started out in club bands, then into touring bands. Played with the rich and famous, saw it all during rock n roll's wild days. Thankfully I walked away, went back to school, created a normal life for me and my family. My music friends who went the route had tough lives. There are exceptions of course, but I've been able to keep involved creating music with friends worldwide. Which worked out well for me. YMMV.
