Composed in the early 16th Century as part of a collection for harpsichord, it has been adapted dozens of times in works over the last 50+ years: in 1971 on a Moog syth by Ruth White, and as recently as 2021 in a vocal and visual performance by Alma Deutscher.
Aptly, or ironically, the meaning of the title and the work remains largely, mysterious.
While not the longest piece I'd translated from sheet music to Musescore, it was one of the first heavily multi-voiced pieces, and rather cumbersome. Dynamics ought not to be an issue for this piece, as harpsichords do not lend themselves to changing volume mid-song, if at all.
