Song information
Wrote and recorded this as an homage or re-write if you will of Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road." The lyrics have the same theme of escapism and fantasy. Many years ago, I read "Candide" by Voltaire where, as travelers, they come to Eldorado which is described as a wonderous paradise. That book stuck with me for quite a while and finds it way into this tune. Some people who have heard thought it sounded a bit like the Beatles, one person said ELO. I remember it being suggested that this could potentially be an anthem. Took a long time to mix this thing at least to my satisfaction.
Now it's here for all the ibandstanders. Happy 2024 everyone!

Lyrics
Golden weeds in the early morning
Across from the horses and hills
Staring out into the horizon
Running through my thoughts for my thrills

I'm going back to the other side of the mountains
Where the voice and the word stand in line
I'm going back to the other side of the mountains
Where the jackrabbits run in time

And there's no reason for turning back now

I got my pack and I got my drinking water
I got my maps to read
Why you stand there in your city shoes
There's nothing to give you the blues

I'm going back to the other side of the mountains
Where you can run past the plows
I'm going back to the other side of the mountains
Where you can jump past the cows

And there's no reason for turning back now

If you've got Eldorado yearning
Season is year round now
If you've got Shangri La yearning
Season is year round now
Catch the last boat for Steikhein
Season is year round now

And there's no reason for turning back now

It sounds great. I can hear the Elton John inspiration. Or some of the 80s prog rock bands. I really like this.

A little ELO mixed with Elton John, imo.. you used your inspiration wisely with positive musical results

I can definitely see the Beatles and ELO reference here too! I think the piano at some points does sound like Elton's early playing style too! Enjoyed very much. Mike

Fine composition. Re "influences": it's all been said above. Nice keyboard and tasty yet appropriately understated guitar work. Very good mix to these tired ears. 👍👍👍
