Surely the most known symphonic movement of all time, so much played and so much remixed in all genres (remember Saturday Night Fever).
Also known as the Symphony of Destiny, it was written in 1805-1807 and premiered on December 22, 1808 at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna. The composer dedicated the work to Prince Lobkowitz and Count Razumovsky, a Russian diplomat who had commissioned the three string quartets of Op. 59 to Beethoven.
The composition was carried out in parallel with Symphony No. 6, the premiere of which took place during the same concert. During this period marked by the Napoleonic Wars (occupation of Vienna in 1805), Beethoven, who was approaching thirty, was increasingly deaf.
This movement is the one which gave me the most difficulties to reproduce with its dynamism and all its articulation and tempo changes.
Brilliantly Thierry.
You captured every nuance so incredibly well...the dynamic rise and fall of the movements, felt with absolute authenticity. Top notch production as always.
Bravo my friend.
there are a few guys on Bandstand who work way above my pay grade... you obviously have a studious grasp of music, but yet you can create a recording where I'm emersed in an actual Orchestral environment... and I'm baffled... no clue how I would accomplish this... I know because I have tried... so all the more respect from where I sit
