Song information
The guitar tuning for Zeppelin’s rain song is DGCGCD… one day while practicing The Rain Song, I thought “what would I have written in his tuning?”… so I set out to explore the tuning and write my own. For years it remained only acoustic, bass and drums, then a few months ago I decided to add different guitar textures, seeing that the song was fairly hi testosterone (thanks to Ben Marino’s drumming)… so I knew it needed electric guitars… and here is the result… I’m particularly fond of the Dan Electro Baritone thru the Vox AC15, I also used a Strat thru a deluxe, all electric guitars were tuned normally… Originally I sang the angel voices at the end of the song… but I don’t sound like an angel… so yesterday I asked my friend Kay Roe to sing it and she dropped what she was doing and came straight over… thank you Kay

Lyrics
I am awake in my dreams

I am asleep in my routine

I have this life apart from me

I have this life in my dreams

just vapor drifting through time

aimless descent after I climb

I wafted right on past my prime

I am a mist drifting through time

WE CANNOT HEAR THE ANGELS SING

THERE IS NO HARVEST IN THE SPRING

WE CANNOT SEE THE SPIRIT KING

WE CANNOT HEAR THE ANGELS SING

I used to dream that I fly.... deep in the night

I’d dance my name across the sky....
i used to dream

I’m just another earthbound guy...
who'd dream i could fly

I used to dream... dream i could fly

WE CANNOT HEAR THE ANGELS SING

THERE IS NO HARVEST IN THE SPRING

WE CANNOT SEE THE SPIRIT KING

WE CANNOT HEAR THE ANGELS SING

these storms that blow thru our days

effect us in peculiar ways

they taught my heart to sing and praise

these storms that blow taught me to pray

WE CANNOT HEAR THE ANGELS SING

THERE IS NO HARVEST IN THE SPRING

WE CANNOT SEE THE SPIRIT KING

THERE IS NO HARVEST IN THE SPRING

HALLELUIA... GLORY ON HI

BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD...
THE LORD ADONIA

we can not hear....

Stage set nicely. Your voice is so soothing. The bird noise? At :40 a nice touch and how closely tonally you got with guitar. Just nicely done. Nice delicate spacious mix. The background pad is mixed down just right to my ear, providing subtle texture throughout. 2:45 lots of energy, harmonies, great feel. Excellent performance all around, on the mix too. Very cool use of panning. Attention to detail. Great work :-) drumming and bass on point grooving

I know the feeling that a piece is never finished, always wondering if we should improve this or that passage, add something or remove something else. This piece is perfect to my ears as it is now.

Getting better and better. I remember well the version from December. I still love the crisp guitars and your beautiful voice/words. Wonderful vocal harmonies. Wonderful guitar solos.
