Song information
I would be highly surprised if someone could identify the very specific and obscure song from which I totally stole the arrangement for this song.

Lyrics
January called me
With mischief on her mind
October killed my confidence
Rather like July
You may love your calendar girls
But apparently
For whatever reason they
Were never really interested
In me

It’s just a joke,
A laugh at my expense
The universe is mocking all of my choices
I feel that I’ve earned
The everlasting scorn
Of some great capricious
Cosmic oyster

September quite destroyed me
By treating me too kind
March and May ignored my interest
Never knew quite why
You may love your calendar girls
But apparently
For whatever reason they
Were never really interested
In me

It’s all a joke,
A laugh at my expense
The universe is mocking all my choices
I feel that I’ve earned
The everlasting scorn
Of some great capricious
Cosmic oyster

Power pop once again, it’s self conscious and thoughtful yet silly and fun, a pink toilet seat around yer neck and the song totally works. I was waiting for The Roy Orbison statement in the vocal. Solid arrangement and whoever you stole the thing from was creative! Bravo!

Wonderful stuff John! Thankfully there is no capricious cosmic oyster, but it sure feels that way sometimes! Ha ha... Lovin' your sparkling tunes my friend! 👌👍😋👏

Very late 60's and believe it or not, I am thinking the Cowsills! The whole package was ear candy. You keep outdoing yourself!

Love your lyrics. I can't quite put my finger on influences but it seems like you're pulling from a lot of different musical directions. I hear Beach Boys and some of the phrasing reminds me of songs I used to do with a band called The Funhouse Porcupines that covered 30s-70s or so. Definitely felt like this before. Enjoyed this production. Dig your style.
