We lost Benji our Dog recently at only 4 years and 3 mths old so suddenly. Having made himself an equal and part of the family it was hard to take being so close. This is my attempt at letting him run free in peace in many ways. Not least by adding a Lullaby theme half way through!
You may recall I did a previous piece, not so long ago, on him as a tutorial and can be found here (more up tempo): https://ibandstand.com/backstage/songs#:~:text=Benj%27s%20Theme%20(Heroic%20Compositional%20tutorial)
All composition, arrangement by Me. Sections used: Woodwinds, Strings, Brass, Rhythm, Choirs, partial synths, Keys. Each note placed - no Loops. Starts 4/4 moves to 3/4 and back again.
This is beautiful... richly textured orchestration.Nice chord seqence at ~3 min.I've not heard anything else like this here. There are only a few of us actively composing in 'classical' vein...
A lovely flowing and richly orchestrated work. It reflects a love for Benji that most of us would feel blessed to have. Well done Paul. So nice to hear something new from you.
Great to hear you on site again after such a long time away. Sad for your loss friend. Our pets become very much a part of us and it feels almost like a kind of amputation when they pass on. Condolences, and thank you for sharing your feelings in this beautiful piece.
Has a John Williams feel to it - awe and wonder. I liked the melody. The lullaby worked well. The musical material is uncluttered, but you've elevated it by using tasteful, transparent orchestration.
So sorry to hear of your loss, words are little comfort at this deeply difficult time 😔... This is a stunningly beautiful piece of music that fills the listener with emotion. My thoughts lay with you during these times of great saddness ... Rest easy Benji x
You were able to pour your heart out in this beautiful piece you created. A pet can't tell you in words that they're hurting- the eyes tell all.. A friend of mine just lost a beloved pet a few weeks ago. As I listen, I see Benji entering into a whole new light
