Song information
This one is from my early days with GarageBand way back in the ancient times of 2006.

I feel like I was somewhat lucky as to when I was born. A baby in the 60s, a kid in the 70s and a teen in the 80s. I was raised on Star Trek. The perfect age, 10, when Star Wars came out. And ate up all the great classic sci-fi schlock that the local TV station would play during all-night movies on Friday and Saturday nights. It all warped my mind just right.

This is a tribute to all that in the style of another 70s favorite - post-punk, New Wave and Second British Invasion inspired music.

Every tract except the Drummer track is from my original 2006 recordings, which was the second time I recorded the song. I wrote it in late 2004 or early 2005 but that one is long lost and was done with everything patched directly into my eMac's audio jack, so needless to say, it was not exactly quality. Those the tracks from this session are much better, I was still using a $20 Radio Shack mic for the vocals. So there's that.

Hopefully, those of you who, like me are "of a certain age," will enjoy the references. Thanks for listening and TURN IT UP!

Lyrics
©2006 Joseph Gurner

Alpha waves are being beamed from outer space
Don’t you fret, Doctor Who is on the case

He and Mr. Spock have had a row
What will Captain Britain do now?

Look at Godzilla run down Tokoyo
Will Flash Gordon make Godzilla go?

Buck Rogers will have to save the day
But, in the end, the Martians got away

Retro--------
Go on and set the Wayback
Retro--------
To a time that came before
Retro-------
It’s 79, every thingÕs fine
ooooeeeooooo oooo

Here comes the tin man looking for a heart
But Michael Myers cuts him all apart

Will Ben Kenobi be able to save the day
Or will he use the Force as he runs away

Nasa tries to tell us everything is fine
Just like the moonbase in Space 1999

Retro--------
Get ready for the transport
Retro--------
Step into the beam
Retro-------
Follow Plan 9 and every thing’s fine
ooooeeeooooo oooo

Poor Barbarella has gone right insane
Gamma rays begin to fry your brian

Use you raygun to try and raise the dead
To meet the zombies that live inside your head

Retro--------
Go on and set the Wayback
Retro--------
To a time that’s never been
Retro-------
It’s 79, every thing’s fine
ooooeeeooooo oooo

@jgurner
It seems that while Sherman was in school you and Mr. Peabody took a trip into my past!
This is a helluva lot of fun Joseph. A thumpin' piece of nostalgia!
FAVED!

Yeah great music in that piece. Some grunge touch to it. I was born in 1963 so I perfectly relate to your references :-)
