Song information
This is a cover of a song by Daniel Johnston. He was considered an influential outsider musician in the 80s, writing songs and recording them in a very lo-fi manner, using just a tape recorder. He'd pass out tapes to people he met around Austin, Texas and soon started getting a following, including a following at live shows and write ups in the local press. He also started to gain fans among major music artists as well, and eventually started touring himself.

He also struggled all his life with mental illness, spending a good deal of time in and out of psychiatric facilities until is death in 2019.

This is the song of his I was most familiar with before I even knew who he was. The first version I heard was from The Dead Milkmen on their album Bucky Fellini. I later heard a version by Kathy McCarty used in the soundtrack on an episode of Futurama.

My version is pretty bare-bones. Just drums, bass and vocals. Hope you enjoy.
