So yeah, I'm that person in black who probably makes Hot Topic's profit margins soar - you know, the Emo/Goth variety (feel free to pick your label of choice). The irony? I write music that sounds like I've been brooding in a castle for centuries, but truthfully, my life has been more sunshine than shadows.

I grew up in what you might call a "chaotically blessed" household - six kids, two superhero parents, and a bank account that often played hide and seek with itself. We weren't exactly keeping up with the Kardashians, but what we lacked in cash, we made up for in chaos, love, and probably noise complaints from neighbors.

Lucky for me, I collected friends like some people collect band t-shirts, and many of those childhood partnerships have survived my various fashion phases (which says a lot about their loyalty). Even my romantic history is surprisingly un-dramatic - no tear-stained journals or vengeful poetry required.

So here I am, writing moody tunes while secretly being that person who got dealt a pretty sweet hand in life. This song is my way of saying "thanks" for all the good stuff - even if it comes wrapped in black ribbon and eyeliner.

Lyrics
My Celebration
by Gerald G ©2024

Verse 1
Morning sun breaks through my window
Every day's a chance to grow
Looking back at where I've been
Grateful for this life I'm in

Chorus
So, this is my celebration
Every breath, a new sensation
Friends and family by my side
Love and laughter, wild and wide
This is a beautiful creation
A world of inspiration
Together we're alive.

Verse 2
Your smile lights up every room
Chases away the darkest gloom
In your arms I've found my home
Never have to feel alone

Chorus

Guitar Solo

Verse 3
The world's alive with possibility

Every moment sets us free

Hand in hand, heart to heart

This is just a brand new start

It's a world of inspiration

And together we're alive.

Chorus

Fade

This is an interesting inversion of the songs I often find myself listening to, which have upbeat music yet sad lyrics. Somehow, there's something very fitting about that yin/yang or light/dark that I feel is present in this song as well.
In any event, this is superbly composed, played, sung and produced. You are truly a master of your craft.

I love this song. Great lyrics and nice with the backgroung story. In general I find your music a wonderful mix of light and dark. The always firm forward moving beats makes you want to dance and that give the brightness.

I enjoyed reading your background info.  Your music personifies balance of dark and light in the lifeline. Again, another power mix . I hear a lot of Bright Gothic..like black velvet, smooth..

A thankful heart is a healthy heart.
Wonderful tuneage Gerald. If you don't mind, I'd like to make it my celebration as well!
Music made me think a little of Moody Blues in the 1980s. Not  a bad thing at all.
Kudos!
