This was partially influenced by Elton John's "Have Mercy On The Criminal," which I still consider one of my favorites of his. The middle part with the sound collage was my trying to do something similar to Pink Floyd' s "Echoes" which is probably one of the best tunes they ever did. Lyrically, I was influenced by a lot of Truman Capote's early work which was about ghostly beings or strange errie folk in equally strange situations. Also, the movie, "The Lovely Bones," kind of influenced what I wrote here, which left an impression on myself as it was quite harrowing but compelling. I figured it would be appropriate as it is around Halloween.

Very operatic in its storytelling. Love the spooky break in the middle. Great mix of simple pounding piano chords to full orchestrated crescendos. I hear shades of Edgar Allen Poe (but that may just be me bringing in my gothic lit background).
