Song information
Perhaps some of you will remember, an exceptionally talented member of ICompositions named John Jenkins, aka 'woofer' from Wales. I considered him to be an older brother I wish I had. We had a kinship even though we never met. Back then he introduced me to the word' hiraeth' which is a Welsh term indicating nostalgia. Sometimes 1 word moves me to write about. Sadly, John Jenkins passed away few years ago from a short bout with Cancer.
I wrote this in 2016 and recently re-recorded it. The only loop is the 1st backbeat you hear- the rest is me on the AKAI
Thanks to those listening.

Lyrics

Hiraeth
@copyright 2016 jdorrance

1-
Blood ..of life;
Hiraeth
long ago and far away replays
long ago and far away replays

 In the still of what was
Blurred in passing;
Reminiscing;
Sorely missing
Knee deep in prayer
and forsaken;
Aching
For days..

2.
Blood ..of life;
Hiraeth
long ago and far away replays
long ago and far away replays

(music interlude)

 Ah,Hiraeth;
Hiraeth
long ago and far away replays
long ago and far away replays

(music interlude)

Long ago and far away replays......

I remember Woofer, I think we exchanged a few messages about vintage keyboards. This is a nice tribute, I like the way the layers of instruments build through the track and your harmonies are always great.

The line we're standing in keeps getting shorter... This really hits home. I've lost so many family and friends. Music like this is therapeutic. Love your singing throughout Joyce... 👌👍👏🙏

Joyce, Thanks for helping me with the interpretation of this lovely song. However, the koan like lyrics do lend themselves to multiple interpretations. That being said, I'm glad to know what you intended and what you were feeling when you wrote this. Be well my friend! 😋😘

Really like the progression and vibe that kicks in for the section that starts with "in the still of what was". Returns to the refrain nicely. The refrain is better the second time around. Really interesting work.
