Song information
This is an oldie from the end of 2006 I think.

Improperly saved file stems survive; nevertheless, I was able to do a partial remix and a remaster.

I was still rather new to writing and recording at this point, and I’m afraid I got kind of carried away with the guitar noodling in the mid-section. Looking back I suspect I was a bit in over my head! Lol…

Roxylee and I sang together on three or four tunes back in the day. We both agree this was our finest effort. She was a delight to work with! Hope she hears and enjoys this slightly updated posting.

When I wrote this, the phrase “going Postal” was current, and referred to Postal employees who cracked under the pressure of their jobs, and flipped out on their fellow employees. ..sometimes with fatal consequences.

“Goin’ Coastal” was a deliberate play on words. Instead of “going postal,” I recommended “going coastal” as a remedy for work related stress. Still do, by the way!

Be well all!

Couldn't find them, and to lazy to write them out afresh. Thankfully, they come through clear enough...

Mike, clever title, I like the laid back groove. Shades of Gordon Lightfoot. Very nice slide guitar, very cool.

Thierry,
Weird how such an early effort came out this good. Rather proud of this one. I can see the early Pink Floyd comparison (Fat Old Sun, San Tropez; etc.), but if memory serves, I believe I may have been thinking of Jimmy Buffet at the time.
Glad you enjoyed this one mon frere!

Hey Chips,
Glad to have you along for the ride!
I grew up in southern Arizona. Moved to Salem Oregon in 89. Since then, whenever I get stressed out I drive an hour and a half to the coast. It's quite therapuetic!

Omar my friend! Again with the Pink Floyd! Must be something in my subconcious... Lol...
When I was a young hippie I hitch-hiked up and down the coast a number of times. Didn't experience it again till moving to Salem Oregon in 89. Now Diane and I get out there whenever we can. At the time I wrote this my job was stressing me out. Goin' coastal was good medicine!

Dorothy... I believe you are spot on about Roxylee and myself. Been a dear friend for many years. We were both born back east, same  year, same day, within hours of each other! I consider her my birth-sister. We met on Macjams.com in 2006 and collaborated several times. She has quite the angelic voice!

Thanks Al... The folkie side of me emerges here. I know you have that side as well. Indeed, I regard my rock as merely folk cranked up to 11. Lol...
Glad you enjoyed this one my friend!

Todd,
I liked Mr. Lightfoot's early work, so it's possible there was some influence, although I was conscious at the time of trying something along the lines of Jimmy Buffet. Yeah...costal vs postal. Different choices. Different outcomes...

Thanks Tom for giving this a spin.
Funny, no one has yet to notice that the acoustic guitar in the left channel is actually done on keyboard. The one the right is real. Lol...

Rather Jimmy Buffet  gone alternative to my ears and Roxy gave it that mermaid by the sea feel.  I liked the guitar interlude which flowed like musical waves.. Nice ending too

Joyce,
At last someone recognizes the JB vibe! Sure, I messed with it a bit, but it's still there.
Hope Roxylee doesn't mind being compared to a mermaid. If it was me, I'd be insulted! Lol...
Be well dear friend!
